Many householders find recycling plastic very confusing and ask us why we only collect plastic bottles and bags. Every week they have to throw out in their refuse a large volume of plastic food containers, pots, trays and wrap. The type of plastic we can handle at our recycling plant is determined by the availability of outlets who can re-process these materials. At last, reliable capacity for mixed plastic re-processing is slowly becoming available
This means we can now look at expanding the range of plastic packaging materials that we collect from householders. Before we offer this service to all householders on our rounds we are running a trial to see how our collection vehicles handle the increased volume and whether householders need additional containers.

Guilsfield Trial
From August 2010 households inside the 30mph limit at Guilsfield, Powys will be invited to join the trial to collect more plastics. If you are in the trial area Guilsfield Scouts will deliver a leaflet explaining how the trial will work. In the red box we will accept yogurt pots, magarine & icecream tubs, food trays, flower pots & wrap.
You will also have a label delivered with the leaflet. If you need an extra red recycling box or you would like to try a recycling sack for the plastics, complete the label, attach it to the handle of one of your recycling boxes and leave it out at your next collection day. Our crew will remove the label and the Scouts will deliver the container to you.
